• Lead a variety of environment projects

• Flexible working arrangements

• Leadership of the Whanake Taiao Team

The Maniapoto Maori Trust Board (MMTB), established in 1988, is an Iwi organisation based in Te Kūiti.  Ngāti Maniapoto consists of over 45,000 tribal members, numerous Hapū and 50 marae/papakāinga (approx).  MMTB is the recognised Iwi Authority for Ngāti Maniapoto and corporate trustee of the Maniapoto Fisheries Trust.  MMTB has some exciting changes ahead of us as we continue on with our journey to a Post Settlement Governance Entity.

Reporting to the CEO, the Manager – Pou Taiao will lead the operational delivery of a wide variety of environmental projects and initiatives in accordance with the interests of Maniapoto and consistent with all Waipā River Settlement requirements.  It will also be responsible for the effective management of all aspects of the Taiao team and the implementation of the Taiao workplan.

This is a vital role in proactively managing, leading and supporting the Taiao team ensuring projects are robust and planning methodology is applied, resources are allocated appropriately, and projects which support the strategic plan are completed at a high level within budget and timeframes.  Liaising with external funders, reporting on milestones, managing stakeholder relationships and making sure each project has the integration of tribal values are also key responsibilities.  A key priority is leading the development of the continuation of MMTB’s comprehensive environmentally based policies, strategies and frameworks.

To be successful, you will need to have proven experience successfully leading and motivating a highly technical team as well as a track record in successfully managing projects, programmes and initiatives in an iwi context, preferably within the environmental sector. Comprehensive project management skills, previous experience in identifying and securing successful funding opportunities and experience working with an Iwi/Māori organisation is essential.  An understanding of the Resource Management Act (RMA) and related sectors would be an advantage.  A relevant tertiary qualification, IT literacy and excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.

The exciting team management role is based in Te Kūiti, however, for an exceptional candidate we would consider the possibility of working some hours remotely to accommodate personal preferences.
