Lead a range of engagement activities

• Flexible working arrangements

• Leadership of a small team

The Maniapoto Māori Trust Board (MMTB), established in 1988, is an Iwi organisation based in Te Kūiti.  Ngāti Maniapoto consists of over 45,000 tribal members, numerous Hapū and 50 marae/papakāinga (approx).  MMTB is the recognised Iwi Authority for Ngāti Maniapoto and corporate trustee of the Maniapoto Fisheries Trust.  MMTB has some exciting changes ahead of us as we continue on with our journey to a Post Settlement Governance Entity.

Reporting to the CEO the Manager – Pou Tāngata will effectively lead a range of communication and engagement activities that support MMTB’s internal and external communication and public relations requirements in order to successfully engage with stakeholders and the wider community.  The role will also be responsible for the effective management of a small team.

The Manager – Pou Tāngata will manage the development and implementation of MMTB’s comms and engagement strategy, provide a consistent direction and best practice approach, manage the full suite of activities for external communications using a variety of avenues for different audiences to actively ensure the reputation of MMTB is enhanced and the great initiatives are promoted to the wider community.  The role will form part of the senior leadership team, therefore providing sound expert advice to the CEO, Board and MMTB’s wider team is key as well as contributing to the future direction of the organisation.

To be successful, you will need to have proven experience in a similar Communications/Marketing/Engagement role with working knowledge of media, communications, visual design and public relations practices. Using social media and reporting on analytics, event management and website development administration and maintenance are all essential, as well as experience managing a communications team. Experience working with an Iwi/Maori organisation in a senior leadership role is preferred. Excellent IT, interpersonal and written communications skills, the ability to juggle multiple projects at once and a relevant tertiary qualification are all required.

This fantastic Comms management role is based in Te Kūiti, however, for an exceptional candidate we would consider the possibility of working some hours remotely to accommodate personal preferences.
