Supporting the advancement of Maniapoto Health and Wellbeing is an important focus of the Maniapoto Māori Trust Board and a number of initiatives are currently in place to progress this key area. These can be viewed under the projects section.

Marae Development

Marae Development initiatives include:

Completion and continual updates on the Marae Toolkit

– Promote training opportunities for Marae trustees, for example Trustee Training & Te Reo Courses
– Provide advice on request
– Investigate and scope collective Marae insurance options
– Establish Pataka Kai
– Facilitate Marae engagement in environmental clean-up activities
– Scope a collective purchasing model
– Hold quarterly Marae workshops
– Scope Papakāinga housing developments for Marae
– Māra Kai – We are currently working with four Maniapoto Marae to establish maara kai at the following marae:

  • Hia Kaitupeka – orchard
  • Whanau Maria – orchard
  • Napi Napi – orchard
  • Te Keeti – herbal garden & orchard


Since March 2015, we joined in an agreement with ASB Bank to offer – The ASB Iwi Extras Package that offers great discounts to Maniapoto Iwi members. Package deatails and further information can be found here

The Maniapoto Māori Trust Board has been funded by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) and Te Puni Kokiri in order to achieve the following:

– Develop a Maniapoto Housing Strategy
– Negotiate with the Crown & Housing New Zealand Corporation (HNZC)
– Vacant housing stock
– Identify Home Ownership Models for Iwi Members
