Chairman of the Maniapoto Māori Trust Board (MMTB), Keith Ikin, has confirmed the appointment of Bella Takiari-Brame as Chair and Kruger Wetere as Deputy Chair of the Establishment Board for the post settlement governance entity, Te Nehenehenui Trust (Te Nehenehenui).
In anticipation of the Ministers’ decision regarding the signing of the Maniapoto Deed of Settlement, MMTB felt it was timely for Te Nehenehenui establishment trustees to convene, formally appoint these roles and lead the iwi through what will be a critical establishment phase.
“I would like to warmly congratulate Bella and Kruger on their appointments and look forward to their leadership as they take our settlement forward” says Mr Ikin.
“Bella and Kruger both bring significant knowledge and experience relevant to this phase in the development of our settlement. Bella affiliates to Ngāti Waiora, Ngāti Apakura and Ngāti Rōra. Kruger affiliates to Ngāti Apakura, Ngāti Rōra, Ngāti Hikairo and Ngāti Haua. In the coming weeks, Te Nehenehenui will update you all on a plan to engage with our people on a five year strategy as part of the specific role that the Establishment Board has towards election of the first Board.”
